“This is way beyond my remote concern of being condescending.”
Ahhhh, The Shins! My favorite band-on-repeat back in college when I was a skinny, pimply kid with the iPod U2 edition (which is still alive by the way). Their albums “Chutes Too Narrow” and “Oh, Inverted World” were forged in melody and drenched in atmosphere. Their songs are sincere and the music is upbeat and carefree. And James Mercer’s voice? Well, it is so melancholically soothing it’s hard not to like the band.
Imagine my happiness when Hove announced that they will be one of the main acts in the festival (along with Snoop Dogg haha). Watching them live made me a bit nostalgic. Although I was a bit disappointed because I thought James sounded a lot better in the albums. When the band was playing Phantom Limb, you’d think they are describing the Norwegians when James sings “Foals in winter coats / White girls of the North” and then it happened: I felt like I understood the song fully. <3
Another dream I can tick off from my dream list.
It’s all happening!

P.S. Sorry for the James Mercer-centricness of the photos
